Outdoor Brand

INTERNATIONALSEO
Recovering from a failed domain migration, then growing: +131% organic visibility and +582% top-10 rankings for an international outdoor brand.

THE RESULTS

An international outdoor brand moved its country domains to one global .com domain without following SEO migration best practices. Organic visibility dropped to almost zero in all markets. We recovered the visibility within a few months and then kept growing it.

The Challenge

Many old URLs were redirected to the homepage or not redirected at all, and a large number returned 404 errors. The most important pages lost their authority, rankings, traffic and organic sales. It was a business-critical situation.

Our scope covered several European markets and the US.

The fix had to be fast: every week without recovery meant lost organic revenue in every market.

THE SOLUTION

We mapped the whole domain, redirected every old URL to its correct equivalent and fixed the 404 pages. We used XML and HTML sitemaps to help Google re-index the site faster. At the same time, our content team did keyword research in every target language and implemented SEO assets to push growth. In the three years after the recovery, organic sessions grew by +59%, organic visibility by +131% and top-10 rankings by +582%.
